In our experience, yoga swings are more suitable for beginners, as the handles make some problematic poses easier, and you have no problems slipping off the fabric of the cloth.

What we particularly liked is the enormous scope of delivery. In addition to the Yoga Trapeze, eight heavy-duty anchors and two ceiling hooks are included. The two adjustable extensions that are also included can be attached to the ceiling hook. This allows you to quickly and easily adapt the Costway swing to different ceiling heights.
As with the more expensive yoga body product, this Yoga Trapeze is made of heavy-duty nylon. The fabric is available in pink and blue. The material made a more flexible impression. In particular, in the armpit and knee area, some poses were less stressful.
The aerial Aerial Yoga Fitness Towel Set is the only USA product in this comparison. This is reflected on the one hand in the high product quality and the GS seal.
The scope of delivery includes the aerial yoga towel, two daisy chains, two aluminum carabiners, two loops, and assembly and maintenance instructions. The bracket can easily be purchased with this product. The 4.2-meter x 2.8-meter cloth is suitable for room heights of approx. 2.5 meters when suspended from two hooks and a 3-meter high room when suspended from one hook.
The quality of the fabric is excellent. Aerial sources the fabric from a specialist manufacturer in the USA. The material is 100% polyamide, transversely elastic but rigid in the hanging direction. Perfect for aerial yoga training. The maximum load capacity of the cloth is given as 220kg. Significantly lower than the other two towels in our comparison. However, this load capacity has been confirmed by the TÜV. None of the other products has this seal.
Thanks to the TÜV-GS seal, the AerialX yoga towel is the only towel in our comparison suitable for professional use in a yoga studio.
The cloth is available in 31 colors and comes in different sets. If you already have an existing ceiling mount, you don’t necessarily have to purchase it.
The Brinny yoga towel is the largest in our comparison with 5 meters x 2.8 meters. In addition, it stands out due to its enormous scope of delivery and the low price.
The scope of delivery includes the cloth, two extensions for the suspension, two ceiling brackets including heavy-duty anchors, and four carabiners for hanging the fabric or the extensions.
The manufacturer does not provide any precise information about the fabric of the cloth, but for us, it looks like a classic synthetic material. Brinny advertises the fabric with an exceptionally silky feel; we didn’t notice it. The maximum load on the product is given as 350kg. Whereby it is not specified whether it is the maximum capacity of the holder or the cloth.
The Brinny product is unfortunately not TÜV tested and therefore not suitable for use in a yoga studio.
The Viktor cloth is made of a 100% nylon stretch fabric. The fabric is available in 17 colors. The material is breathable and stretchable. With a length of 4 meters and a width of 2.8 meters, the fabric is large enough for normal-sized rooms. The manufacturer includes two extensions for rooms with very high ceilings.
Unfortunately, the Viktor Aerial Yoga hammock does not have a test seal and has therefore not been subjected to an external stress test. That is why we have to rely on the manufacturer’s information at this point. This indicates a load capacity of up to 900kg. This can apply to the cloth, but you always have to keep an eye on the maximum load capacity of the holder.
Unfortunately, the scope of delivery only includes the cloth, two carabiners, two stretch belts, and two extensions for rooms with higher ceilings. Here we are missing a ceiling anchor to attach the carabiners. You cannot tie this product without existing hooks in the ceiling.
What is aerial yoga?
A six-square meter cloth hung from the ceiling plays the central role in aerial yoga. You can wrap yourself in it and stretch out and use it to support, stretch or strain individual parts of the body.

- Hip slope: The cloth runs under the hips and supports you, for example, when the dog is looking down.
- Back straddle: Like the Hip Hang, the scarf supports you by keeping your back stable, for example, in overhead poses such as the handstand.
- Aerial Bhadrasana: In this so-called butterfly pose, the cloth holds your feet and lower legs while you let yourself hang.
What should you watch out for when buying an aerial yoga towel?
Before you decide to buy an Aerial Yoga towel, you should pay attention to the following criteria:
You should first consider where you want to hang the cloth. Are there beams under a ceiling that can support the fabric? Have two trees in the garden between which the material can be stretched. If there is no such possibility of attachment, you should choose a suitable frame for the Aerial Yoga hammock.
The area in which the Aerial Yoga towel is to be hung should be large enough so that a certain distance from walls and furniture can be maintained and it does not come into contact with it during the exercises. This could lead to injuries when practicing.
The body weight
You should check what weight the chosen suspension can support. Many aerial yoga towels are intended for two people and can withstand a weight of 220 kg.
Quality of the Aerial Yoga Towel
When the suspension for the cloth has been clarified, you should pay attention to the quality and resilience of the fabric. The fabric should have a test seal from TÜV. The test centers ensure that the clothes are safe for the practitioner.
If this safety is not guaranteed, serious injuries can occur in aerial yoga during heavy and artistic exercises if the cloth or the suspension should tear during the training. Therefore, the carabiners of the rest and the fabric of the fabric must be of high quality and safety.
The manufacturer should be able to provide evidence of product liability insurance in its terms and conditions. It states that the manufacturer is insured if an accident occurs despite the high quality of the cloth and protection by certificates because it is of poor quality.
If a personal injury occurs due to a defective cloth, this type of insurance is essential because it also covers significant financial losses.
The material of the cloth should also be of high quality. The material should not be contaminated with any harmful substances, as these could lead to allergic reactions in the practitioner.
The material and quality of the carabiners on which the cloth is hung are also essential. They should be stable and securely attached to the sheet so that the bodyweight of the practitioner is supported without tearing off.
Make sure to buy products from European, preferably German, manufacturers, as you have to adhere to precise quality and safety controls. For your safety, it is better not to buy cheap products from countries like China.

This is very important because if there are mistakes in the suspension, serious accidents can occur during the exercises.
Which exercises are performed in Aerial Yoga?
When training with the Aerial Yoga towel, classic asanas are adopted in a modified form. Aerial yoga is still a relatively new invention, and therefore, there are no prescribed basic exercises.
Nevertheless, some joint exercises have emerged:
The practitioner lies with his back in the cloth wrapped around the body along the ribs or under the armpits.
The cloth lies under the practitioner’s hips bent forward and helped, for example, with the “looking down dog.”
During this exercise, the cloth supports the feet in the butterfly pose.
This pose supports the back and is mainly used for upside-down or handstand exercises.
Aerial yoga can be done in a variety of exercises. Asanas are possible that would not be possible without a towel on the floor, such as the butterfly pose upside down.
Caring for Aerial Yoga Hanging Cloth
The aerial yoga towel can be washed in the washing machine in the short program of the gentle cycle at 30 degrees. The cloth may lose color the first time it is passed. To avoid staining, you should wash the fabric separately.
Before washing, the snap hooks or tape loops should be removed and the knots at the ends of the cloth opened. If you shy away from trying new knots after washing, the fabric can be washed with the knots as well.
Do not use fabric softener or bleach, only ordinary washing powder. Rinse the cloth with cold water and spin on a low gear.
After the wash cycle, remove the cloth and shake it out lightly before drying it on the gentle cycle for around 20 minutes. Then let the cloth cool down and shake it out again before putting it in the dryer again for about 10 minutes.
Then you should not leave the cloth in the dryer. When the fabric is completely dry, shake it out again, knot the ends of the material, and hang it up again. Avoid direct sunlight as the colors may fade. Even with indirect light, the colors can fade over time.
What types of aerial yoga towels are there?
Aerial yoga towels are available in three different types. Only the fixation point of the cloth changes, because in general, it is always a cloth about three meters wide, on which yoga exercises or other activities are possible.

Three meters wide are not only practical for performing asanas with the aerial yoga towel but can also be used to make a hammock out of the material. Since practicing yoga with an aerial yoga towel develops quickly, and several manufacturers already offer towels, they start developing unique frames for the towels. These frames are around two and a half to three meters high and allow the cloth to be fixed at the highest point. This allows the user to carry out any exercise and does not have to drill holes in the ceiling, tree, beam, or wall.

The best and easiest way to fix an Aerial Yoga cloth is to a beam, similar to a half-timbered house. These houses usually have an enormous ceiling height, and the beams are stable. This leaves a lot of space for the yoga practitioner to perform the various asanas with the towel.
Do I have to be flexible/stretchable to practice Aerial Yoga?
From my own experience, I can say that this is not necessary! Aerial yoga is even particularly suitable for rather stiff people, as stretches can be performed with the help of the cloth that would typically not be possible. This improves elasticity and makes it easier to practice other types of yoga.
Every person, regardless of their physique, should be able to practice Aerial Yoga. As long as you take precautionary measures and use common sense to avoid possible injury, there is no reason to prevent aerial yoga. Contrary to popular belief, it is often even better to start with aerial yoga than yoga on the ground.
How can you install and fold an Aerial Yoga towel?
Usually, an aerial yoga hammock is attached with a carabiner. This carabiner hangs in an eyelet that ends in a clasp that is attached to the ceiling. Since this construction is only recommended in extremely stable shelters, it can be attached using daisy chains or loop straps. These tapes come from climbing and are wrapped around a beam. The weight is better distributed by wrapping around a shaft, and the risk of injury is lower.
Can you use an aerial yoga towel outdoors?
Although Yoga Trapeze were initially designed for indoor use, manufacturers are constantly developing new swings suitable for outdoor use. Like hammocks hanging between the two trees, aYoga Trapeze can be attached to trees, a garage, or a patio for outdoor use.
Indeed, it is an entirely different experience to practice yoga outdoors and connect with nature. Therefore, especially in summer, when the weather is good, it is good to practice aerial yoga outdoors whenever possible.
How can I wash an Aerial Yoga towel?
Before washing, the clothes should be separated by color. In addition, only the cloth itself should be put in the washing machine. Alternatively, it is possible to clean the fabric by hand washing. The fastening material should be removed beforehand.
A conventional laundry detergent works well for an aerial yoga towel. Fabric softener, on the other hand, should not be used.
The cloth is washed at a low temperature (maximum 30 degrees). In general, the wash cycle should be as gentle as possible. A quick wash is usually sufficient. If possible, the aerial yoga towel should be dried in the fresh air in the sun.
Which exercises are suitable for beginners?
With the warrior, the yoga practitioner takes a lunge step. Instead of having both feet on the floor, the front leg is attached to the thigh. The arms remain outstretched for stabilization, and the gaze follows the arm pointing forward.
The warrior looking up
The starting position of the warrior looking up is the same as that of the warrior, except for the change that the front arm is stretched out and the back arm is placed on the leg. The gaze follows the front arm again. This stretches the core muscles a little more.
The handstand is a very complex and strenuous exercise. The handstand is even possible for beginners thanks to the cloth. To do this, wrap the fabric around your lower legs and hook it with your feet. Angle the other part of the scarf around your bum so that there is stability in the center of your body.
As a result, the handstand is even possible hands-free by moving the hands to the side of the body and the yoga practitioner holding on to the towel.
The ship is a particularly challenging exercise for the stomach because the yoga practitioner first sits in the cloth and then begins to stretch his legs. Make sure that even your feet are extended so that there is more tension in the legs. Now stretch your arms sideways past the cloth and stretch your feet towards the ceiling.
